Foreign Fonts
There are many languages that cannot be display correctly on the screen using the usual fonts of Western Europe and America. To give an example, languages like Polish or Russian use other fonts than English or Spanish. This means that for displaying foreign texts correctly, the user would normally have to select the corresponding fonts in his/her browser each time the type of language changes according to the Windows classification. This would, however, cause other problems if the same page also contained "occidental" names or words with their typical special characters. Additionally it is not absolutely sure that all the users have the required fonts at their disposal on their machines.
That is why on this site we will exclusively use "occidental" fonts. As for special characters and diacritic signs (accents, cedilla, tilde, etc.), we will proceed in one of the following ways according to the requirements of the various texts:
We will replace special characters by the most appropriate "occidental" ones and simply remove diacritic signs occurring in "unusual" combinations.
We will (more and more seldom) use the additional symbols that Windows proposes within the "occidental" fonts. If this is a problem for your machine, please tell us.
As far as numeric or mnemotechnical codes are provided by the "occidental" fonts respectively HTML, we will directly use these codes.
Whenever the use of the correct "exotic" fonts seems to be very important and to demand a reasonable effort, we will include the text in an image that can be displayed correctly with no consideration of fonts.
So you will never have to change the "fonts" option of your browser to display our Internet pages.
