Hungary is one of those European countries where tourists have particular difficulties with the understanding of the numerous signs and plaques that they see along the roads, on house walls, and in parks. On the one hand, Hungarian is a language that causes many problems to the big majority of Europeans because it “isn’t like anything” (only the Finnish and some nomad peoples of the far north have a distant relationship with it), and on the other hand, there are rarely translations of the inscriptions. By these pages, we hope to contribute somewhat to a better understanding.
