Arrival - Inscriptions of the Mecsek Mountains

In the north of the city of Pécs, the Mecsek mountains forms a high barrier going from the east to the west between the undulating Transdanubian plains, whose opposite border is lake Balaton, and the low fluvial region of Tissa, Danube, and Drava. Because of their height and their dense forests, these mountains is not only a protection against the hot air coming from the south, but additional freshness is created on site. In winter, they protect the famous southern vineyards of Harkány and Villány against the cold continental winds coming from the north.

Arrival by Public Transport

You can start walking from the city of Pécs or preferably from one of the small towns and villages of the northern Mecsek mountains (Orfű, Kekeres, Magyarhertelend etc.), some of which are served by busses coming from Pécs or by the trains going from Komló to Sásd (or Dombovár).

If you directly come from abroad, you are likely to have to go to Budapest first. From Budapest there are direct trains to Pécs.

Indications concerning the arrival correspond to our personal knowledge or even experience, but we cannot assume any responsibility for their rightness. When you are reading this page, things may have changed in reality.

For more details concerning railway connections see the online information of the German Railways (Deutsche Bahn) or similar.
