Comment
Veit Stoß, who was born and died in the Franconian city of Nurnberg, but came from a native Swabian family, carved the famous Lady-altar of Cracovia, 13 m high, in polychrome gothic style. He finished it in 1489. Other masterpieces by Veit Stoss are to be seen in Nurnberg (St. Sebald, St. Lawrence) and in Bamberg (cathedral) in Germany as well as in Wroclaw (Breslau) in Poland.
By the way, Veit Stoß was branded in 1503 for faking a bill of exchange and was no more allowed to leave the city of Nurnberg. Wouldn’t this be a pretty good idea for nowaday’s financial world…?
Holidays in Cracow (Krakow, Kraków)? Excellent idea! But where to stay? |

Arrival by Public Transport
From the United Kingdom, it is a very long journey... There are connections via Berlin or Francfort-on-Main. Or take the Eurostar to Paris and then the direct train to Vienna. But this means you will have to go from one station to another in Paris (by tube, no idea how long it takes) and in Vienna (by tramway, 40 minutes). Or take a plane to Warsaw, where there are fast direct trains going to Cracovia.
