Comment
As shown by my raw translation, nothing is really equal between the two linguistic versions, besides the signature of the municipality of Bale / Valle. Both of my translations keeping very close to the original texts are intended to prove that. But obviously both versions want to express the same thing, i. e. Waste Dumping Forbidden. In any (official) language, however, there are manners of speaking that have just become a habit.
You can see such markers throughout the world and it would not be worth while speaking of them if there were not the little Istrian peculiarity that even speaking of refuse they use two languages. Bale / Valle is one of the coastal Istrian towns in which Croatian-Italian bilingualism was officially decreed in order to protect the Italian minority (here after all nearly 23 %). Nowadays this minority is officially represented by the Unione italiana (CNI). For more information on this institution and some others, see the inscriptions of Rovinj / Rovigno under Former Granary (German). If the marker does not contain a version written in Istriot as the third local language, this is due to the fact that that language is mostly restrained to oral speech and that it is often considered as a variant of the Italian language so that it has no official state.
You will find more photos of Bale / Valle under Walking Through Bale / Valle.
